KCCI Files Petition Against Insurance Companies Srinagar, Sep 20: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court against what it termed the casual approach adopted by the insurance companies in the assessment of losses and settlement of claims of the flood-hit businesses. “Following the reports that insurance companies were nudging the policy holders towards compromises thereby adversely effecting their legitimate claims, the KCCI today petitioned the High Court for revisiting the procedure for assessment and settlement of claims,” KCCI, secretary general, Musadiq Shah said in a statement today. KCCI has petitioned that the assessments were being done by the insurance companies in a very casual manner and “apparently major shift was required to be made in the procedures.” “For this purpose, the top management of these companies would be required to take decisions which would take the present crisis into consideration while making assessments,” Shah said. #Muneer
