KD.19 Project Gallery. Next week we open the new Project Gallery in the Knowledge Dock. (the building opposite AVA). Its around 50sq metres of MDF lined white wall. A white cube with big shutter doors that open out onto the yellow courtyard in front of the Fine Art Office windows. This space can be used for public works. The space has been commissioned as a space for Final Year Art students (Fine Art, Printmaking / Illustration) to book and put together a project show with an opening event. Students can show their own work or curate the work of others - 1st years, 2nd years, 3rd years, who ever you want to include in your show. The Project Gallery will also be available to you after you graduate. This means that you could request a slot in the summer to curate a project - after the degree shows...? Or a slot next year? Pete Cobb is commissioning the first show with Tim Allen. After that it will be run by students with support from Paul Manners. A timetable will be set up and youll be able to book slots. The space needs branding - a name. It needs to be registered with all the online artsites and it needs to gain a reputation as a space thats worth travelling to see great work from emerging artists. This is your project.
