The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is hosting the first set of public open houses to provide information on the second phase of the Route 92 Centennial Bridge Study, which will examine options for constructing a four-lane replacement bridge between Leavenworth (Leavenworth County) and Platte County, Missouri. There are two open house opportunities for the public to participate in as follows. The public is invited to drop by the open house-style meetings anytime between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. each evening, January 14-15. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Platte County Community Center North - Generational Room 3101 Running Horse Road Platte City, MO 64079 Thursday, January 15 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Riverfront Community Center - Riverview Room 123 South Esplanade Leavenworth, KS 66048 We invite anyone interested in the Centennial Bridge Study to attend one of the two public open houses. At the open house, attendees will learn about the existing conditions of the current Centennial Bridge, located on K-92 in Kansas and Route 92 in Missouri. The study team will be on hand to answer questions and provide information to the public. No formal presentation will be given. KDOT has identified a future need to replace the Centennial Bridge over the Missouri River. Through data collection, cost analysis and public input, the Route 92 Centennial Bridge Study will examine the options for constructing a four-lane bridge replacement. This includes determining a preferred location, bridge type, associated costs, potential funding mechanisms and conducting a preliminary assessment of the potential environmental impact. The study process includes the preparation of an Advanced Preliminary Engineering (APE) Report, as well as a Tolling & Revenue Report. For more information on the Route 92 Centennial Bridge Study visit: ksdot.org/kcMetro/. This study is funded by T-WORKS, the transportation program passed by the Kansas Legislature in May 2010. Find out more about these and other T-WORKS projects at: kdotapp.ksdot.org/TWorks/. If you have questions or will require special assistance at the public open house, please contact Gina Boucher at (816) 216-6571 at least one week in advance of the meeting.
