KEEP OFF POLICE CAMPS,ALSHABAAB WARNS GARISSA COUNY RESIDENTS AS THEY TARGET POLICE OFFICERS... There is tension in Galmagal town in Garissa County, after residents discovered leaflets believed to have been left behind by AlShabaab militiamen who attacked a police post last week. The leaflets written in the native Somali language are believed to have been left at the scene of the attack that left four Administration Police Officers dead. The leaflet warns civil servants and aid workers in the area not to live in the police camps lest they be attacked together with the officers. The warning has made residents to leave the town and homes around it with most of them leaving behind their belonging and moving to the nearby town of Gumbis. The residents left their homes for fear of being attacked as there are no security officers who have been sent into the area since the Friday attack. The police post that was attacked still remains closed as there are no officers to man it. The Galmagala Health Center also remains deserted with nurses fleeing the hospital to seek a safer place in Masalani and Bura for fear of attacks. Residents are now threatening to arm themselves if the government does not provide them with security. Residents are also appealing to the government to recruit Kenya Police reservists to provide security.
