KEEP THE SABBATH HOLY---Text for the Day: Exodus 31:12-18. Memory verse: Observe the Sabbath,because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death;whoever does any work on that day must be put to death. . .Exodus 31:14. The SABBATH is A DAY given ESPECIALLY by THE LORD to the JEWISH PEOPLE as a REMINDER of HIS COVENANT with them (Exodus 20:8-11; 31:12-17; Nehemiah 9:13-15). THE WORD "Sabbath" means "TO CEASE WORKING,TO REST" & it is RELATED to the Hebrew for "seventh." So they would NOT have to WORK on the Sabbath. The Jews were to PREPARE THEIR MEALS IN ADVANCE. They were PERMITTED on the SIXTH DAY to GATHER DOUBLE PORTION of what they WOULD HAVE GATHERED ON OTHER DAYS, & WHATEVER THEY SAVED UP WOULD NOT BECOME ROTTEN. Not only was the GIVING OF THE MANNA A MIRACLE IN SIX DAYS A WEEK,but the PRESERVING OF THE MANNA FOR THE SEVENTH DAY WAS AN ADDITIONAL MIRACLE. If YOU will CHOOSE to HONOUR THE LORD by KEEPING THE SABBATH HOLY,HE WILL BLESS WHAT YOU DO FOR THE SIX WORKING DAYS. Worshiping GOD is the HIGHEST PRIVILEGE & THE GREATEST RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE. Everything that WE ARE & DO flow OUT OF OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD. GOD CREATED US IN HIS IMAGE so we MIGHT LOVE HIM & HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM. GOD IS SEEKING PEOPLE who will WORSHIP HIM "in spirit & in truth" (John 4:23-24). Make sure your Sabbath PROVIDES a time of both refreshment & remembrance of GOD. WISDOM: To keep on working without resting & refreshing in the Lord is to be drying out;killing yourself gradually,physically,mentally,emotionally & psychologically. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Am I getting finished gradually due to over-working. Am I setting up enough consecrated prime time to be renewed by the Holy Spirit ? FOLLOW THROUGH: Take a decision on how best you will use your time for God. PRAYER POINT: Father,teach me wisdom on how to manage my life,keeping my days holy unto YOU all the time.
