TUESDAY If you don’t love The Great American Songbook… you don’t like music! Paul Brier on piano and piano bass, Jay Shuffle on vocals and harmonicas and my good friend and superb drummer, Chelo González, sitting in for yours truly. So if you love to dance holding your gal in your arms (along with some newer tunes) you will love your evening at La Bodega and the best dance floor in Ajijic. Call 766-1002 for your favorite table and things get going at 7:30 PM. Timothy G. Ruff Welch will be sitting in on piano for Dr. Galen(recently injured) with a trio featuring Dale Hetler on drums and Sergio Casas on bass. Kimmie will be doing your very favorite torch songs with the trio one last time (for a while) before she heads back to The Great White North known as Toronto, Canada. Don’t miss this night and you can reserve at 766-1360. Doors are at 6 PM and they band takes the stage at 6:30 PM. WEDNESDAY As I mentioned in my note at the top, Sergio Casas will be starting his Open Mic at La Bodega at 7 PM because of the “cold weather” (come up here Sergio! lol). He will open with some of his fine Spanish ballads and like always,be of big help to any who come to join in the fun and the real fun part is that you never know who will show up. Moises Ramirez is a very fine entertainer and will be on hand at Los Telares on this night from 6 PM to 8 PM with beautiful guitar and voice stylings.There is a special menu all day and house wine is 2 for 1 as well. Also, if you haven’t seen a Tres Cubana Guitar before you’re in for a treat... just an excellent player. Jerry Mayfield will be doing his wonderful Country and Western sounds you all know and love and even adding a few new ones at El Patio at the new time of 4 to 6 PM. If you’re not sure, El Patio is located in Chapala just north of the Cathedral and across the street from City Hall. THURSDAY Diana Argote, that great little gal with the great big voice, will be back at El Bar Co. with Jonathan Guzman joining her vocally and with his great guitar playing for an acoustic show starting at 7:30 PM. There is lots of great food and fun to be had. El Bar Co. is just west of the Pe-Mex on the Carretera. FRIDAY I love this name!... If you are a jazz aficionado you will appreciate this too! Melodius Tonk Jazz Quartet will be appearing at El Bar Co. You might want to phone 766-0452. It’s Ladies’ Night at Adelita’s Bar & Grill again and all the ladies’ drinks are half price from 7 PM on and if that’s not enough for you… Mike Fortier and The Suspects will be on hand to fill the dance floor. Things get rockin’ about 8PM but you can come any time after 5 PM for dinner before the fun starts. If you love good dance music and fun you’re going to love Sol y Luna at La Bodega at 8 PM. Great selection of tunes well done by these two lovely gals and Daniel on the keyboard. Enjoy! If you are looking for something a little different on a Friday evening and are strolling around “The Heart of Ajijic”, drop into Las Telares and catch Daniel Cordero. There’s a special menu and drink specials (twofors!) from 5 PM to 8PM and Daniel entertains from 6 PM to 8 PM Why not try Tony’s Plus on the Carretera in San Antonio Tlayacapan on Friday and/or Saturday night with Tony y Roberto playing romantic Mexican Music from 6 PM to 9 PM. There is always great food and plenty of parking. SATURDAY Have a great evening out with Ricardo y Blanca and their super mix of soft rock, romance and Latin music. They start at La Bodega at 8:30 PM for your listening and dancing pleasure. These fine entertainers will have you tapping your toes and up dancing like magic. Call 766-1002 for reservations. Adelita’s Bar & Grill has Noe Raygoza and The Classics on starting at 8 PM tonight. Make reservations and slip in for dinner anytime after 5 PM and stay to “trip the light fantastic” as they use to say! Alelita’s is located just south ofthe Centro Plaza in San Antonio Tlayacapan. SUNDAY Take a drive west of Ajijic and stop at one of the great spots out there… most of the entertainment (and there are some super groups) start at 3 PM and go until about 6 PM. There are also lots going on at the Chapala Malecon at The Beer Garden, Perla Negra and others. LIVE THEATRE The Lakeside Little Theatre has a wonderful musical comedy opening on Friday and running through to December 16th called Sinderella created by Dave McIntosh, directed by Paul Kloegman, music direction by Ann Swistonand choreography by Heather Hunter. Tickets are 250 Pesos and available from the box office from Wednesday, December 3rd except Sundays or call 766-0954. UPCOMING EVENTS THAT REQUIRE RESERVATIONS AND/OR TICKETS Lakeside for the Holidays at the Auditorio de La Floresta on December 9th at 7 PM and December 10th at 4 PM. This wonderful Holiday Concert is under the very capable direction of Timothy G. Ruff Welch… don’t miss this! On Friday, December 5th there will be a special presentation of Traditional Korean Music by The Jinju Symphony Orchestra at 7 PM at the Auditorio de la Ribera in Ajijic and on Saturday, December 6th at the same time at the Outdoor Forum on the Chapala Malecón. Free Admission! Galen is having 2 more of his Candlelight Concerts for the Christmas Season on December 10th and December 17th. Only 4 seats left for the 17th but a few more for the 10th. The Canadian Club of Lake Chapala is having a Christmas Gathering on Wednesday, December 10th at 3 PM with Christmas Music by Frankie Dino.This is a pot luck dinner so please bring finger foods to serve you and your guest(s). A night of great jazz by fantastic musicians at Maria Isabel Restaurant (The Old Posada) on Friday, December 12th from 7:30 PM until 9:30 PM.
