KEITHS AWAY I love to see the bridges That cross the river Tyne And I love to see Greys monument In the Toon Standing So sublime Northumberland street Collingwood street And Old Eldon square But Im hardly ever there I love St.Jamess Park And remembering all the goals The Leazes end The Gallowgate The memories that it holds The Bigg market In its heyday Around about Pudding Chare But Im hardly ever there I love the arty farty The Baltic And the Laing I remember Balmbaraa Music Hall Where Dickie Irwin sang I love the coast at Whitley Bay And Tynemouth Where I live I wish I had moved there years ago Oh what I would of give But Im hardly ever there I love the secret County Northumberland It is called With its lovely coastline beaches And all its castle walls Dunstanborough Alnwick Bamburgh And Newton By The Sea Beautiful places to visit For peace and tranquility But Im hardly ever there I love the North Shields fish quay Where I sometimes sit and stare Looking at South Shields Wishing I was there I look out across the Tyne My hometown Forever In this old heart of mine Thinking of Redheads shipyard Where me Dad Uncle and Grandad Used to ply their trade Thinking of old times And how those men were made I used to love sitting on the cracket Listening to the stories that they shared It didnt happen often Because I was hardly ever there I used to love being married With kids and family That is all gone now Football Trucking and boozing Spoiled it all you see Looking back at things I love I thought that I would share Keep them close to your heart Try to be where you want to be Because its hard When You are hardly ever there
