KENYA Kamau Happy with win coutesy of Supersport Thika United coach John Kamau was impressed by his team’s performance in their 1-0 win over the relegation threatened side Karuturi Sports in Saturday’s Kenyan Premier League (KPL) encounter. It’s indeed a great bounce back for the Milk-men, who had failed to secure a win in their previous nine matches with their last home game ending 1-0 in favour of Sony Sugar. Despite Dweh Allison’s penalty miss in the 14th minute, utility player and captain garnered the maximum points for the visitors from the spot in the 20th minute after the hosts handled the ball in the area following Clifton Miheso’s cross. Thika could have extended the lead on the hour mark, but Miheso’s penalty-kick hit the post. However, speaking after the clash that was played under a heavy down pour, the Dutch trained tactician said he is satisfied with the three points. “It’s a great win for us and the boys showed character and desire to get the results,” said Kamau. “We could have won the match with a big margin, but we wasted many scoring opportunities. But the important thing is that we won. We will try to rectify the mistakes before our next assignment.” Following the win, Thika are now tied on points (35) with second placed Sofapaka.
