KGATLENG MEN’S SECTOR ON HIV PREVENTION CAMPAIGN Kgatleng Men Sector embarked on a long week activity called “HIV prevention outreach” where five villages were visited and residents tested for different diseases. Speaking in an interview with Kgatleng Men Sector chairperson Mr Thabo Lentswe in Malolwane, he said the objective was to take services to the people. He said as men sector they have realised that sometimes people do not go for testing because they have known those who test them for a long time but when someone they do not know comes along, they easily test. He further said clinics are doing a good job but at times people want to see new faces and they come forth and test without a problem. Mr Lentswe said they have realised that when one is new, people come in large numbers for tests and now they are taking advantage while at the same time people will know their statuses and get help accordingly. He stated that they have performed hand on site male circumcision, which went well even though there was low turnout. Mr Lentswe said they do not only test for HIV status but provide other services like tests for diabetes, hyper tension, high blood, tuberculosis and others in collaboration with BOFWA, Gaonosi support group and Tebelopele. He thanked all who made sure the campaign becomes successful and looked forward to another men- led activity.
