KHALWALE to impeach OPARANYA for running the county as a ‘kiosk’ and favouring his sycophants. Tuesday October 22, 2013 - Kakamega Senator, Dr. Bonny Khalwale, has threatened to engineer an impeachment motion against Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya, for ignoring Members of County Assembly (MCA) in financial management of the County. Speaking yesterday, the Kakamega Senator accused Oparanya of running Kakamega County as a ‘kiosk’, making financial decisions single handedly and without consulting the MCAs. Khalwale took issue with Oparanya’s recent announcement of development grants to schools and police stations during his recent visits to sub-counties, where he did not consult the assembly. “Oparanya should know that the era of roadside declarations is long gone and he cannot afford to reduce the right of residents to get services based on sycophancy”, said Khalwale. He also faulted the Governor for allegedly committing sh2 million to paint a building that has since been commissioned as a county court, saying it is a waste of public resources and never consulted the MCAs.
