KIDNAPPER’S DEN DEMOLISHED IN AMAIFEKE, ORLU LGA By Fortune Obikwere One thing for which the present administration in Imo state should be commended for among others is its unwavering policy on security. Since its announcement on October 26, 2011 at Ogboko during the governor’s meeting with the security agents, community government council officials and other stakeholders in the Imo state politics that it would pool down any house associated with kidnapping activities, government has not relented on it as many of such infrastructures in the state have fallen victim of this policy aimed at forestalling this evil act. This scenario was oncemore enacted at one of the communities in Orlu LGA, Imo state on Monday, July 14, 2014. An eye witness told Imo Community News correspondent in the area that on this day, one Mr. Chigozie, a tipper driver from Mbano, who resides at Uja Amaifeke, Orlu LGA was arrested for a case of kidnapping along side other two accomplices, who were gunned down at the scene of receiving their N8million ransom after N12m was paid on Monday, 14th July by 4.00am. Imo Community News gathered that their victim was from Nnewi in Anambra state. The eye witness reports that luck ran out of them when the joint army and police squad laid ambush at the point of exchange. He said that all the tipper and luxury cars belonging to the kidnappers had been confiscated. The captured kidnapper kingpin claimed that their gun supplier came from Port-Harcourt and had since left with a jeep. He told ICNews that the house he lives in except other neigbours’ property were burnt down and bulldozer did the rest of the job as pictured by the camera in the displayed pictures. According to him, the landlord has not been able to paint the house as things have been hard for him. He rented it to be making some money. He said that every other tenant has been prevented from taking a pin from their apartment. All their property were burnt down with the building, soon after they bulldozer came in. Much as Imo Community News sympathizes with the owner of the building, who lives abroad and rented the house for economic reasons without knowing the intentions of the tenant kidnapper, she advises every land lord to know well enough the character of his tenant before allowing him residence. Dont just collect house rent. Try to know what your tenant does for a living.
