First assistant hare had already deserted, pleading a sales training course. Thus second assistant hare started setting at 5.15. An en-route encounter with a member of the TPDF who wanted to know if an insurgency was under way was soon resolved. He got back to venue at 6.10 to find the Sigmobile the only vehicle apart from his own. He set off in pursuit of the pack but made a shortcut to assist in catching up. At the junction with the real trail, he stopped to survey the scene and observed a lonely GM approaching from the upstream direction. On meeting and greeting, said GM revealed that he was the entire pack, and that he had checked every falsie up to that point. Hare and hound then continued on a walkie talkie route that roughly emulated the trail, with GM displaying illegal chivalry in carrying a bag for a beautiful young lady. They (unfortunately without the lady) then enjoyed a cosy sit down beer back at base. Actual trail was right from the venue, left at Philips road, next right and down into Kijenge gardens, along the gardens to the police post, across the road and left inside the AICC area. Right at the next junction where the hare had gone to some trouble to try to confuse the pack – to no avail – across the main AICC pot-holey drag, up to the Themi road, left and then across and into the short Mr Price road, thence roughly following the training route in reverse and back across corridor road to base. Scribes assessment of the trail: Amazing – should be repeated often, preferably with more than one hound.
