KILLARNEY BRACES FOR KARTING VENDETTAS Scores to settle as Cape Kart Championship reaches half-way mark The midseason fourth round of the Western Cape Karting Championships promises explosive action with vendettas to settle and some new developments as rivals come together to race at Killarney on Saturday 7 June. Most of the interest hinges around the high school Junior Max 125cc class following a controversial last race that saw championship contenders Delano Fowler (Suprocom TonyKart) and Kohen Bam (SAKRA Kosmic) both excluded when Bam was found underweight in race 2 and Fowler thrown out for the day for taking photos of Bam’s kart on the scales! All that on top of on-track action boiling over the edges of the kerbs, has allowed Kohen’s kid brother Henry Bam (SAKRA Kosmic) to grab an unexpected championship lead over his brother, the promising Dino Stermin (Zanardi), impressive rookie Giordano Lupini (La Vie de Luc/AutoWeek Zanardi), Isabelle Fowler (Suprocom TonyKart) and Chadley Swartz (SAKRA Zanardi). Also look out for Sebastian Boyd (Boyd Freight Kosmic) and double WP Maxterino champion Dari Busi (Automan TonyKart), who moves up this weekend. Busi’s absence from the Maxterino 60cc primary school class may leave a hole, but never fear as JP Hamman (RKT Kosmic), Aidan Strydom (TurboTech TonyKart), Charl Visser (Battery Energy Zanardi) and Jason Coetzee (Zanardi) will fight it out as usual with Tyler Croy (Zanardi), Tate Bishop (CRG) and Joseph Oelz (Clear Zanardi) among several kids snapping at their heels. The open Max Challenge 125cc class is becoming a matter of stop that Luke Herring (RKT Kosmic) for Julian van der Watt (Zanardi), Umpie Swart (Indy Oil Birel), Eugene Deneyssen (SAKRA TonyKart) and Jono Aberdein (Tony) while Luke van Rensburg (Zanardi) will be raring to get back into the DD2 125cc gearbox action after his national rally debut last week and missing the previous round. He will want revenge on last race podium men Wesleigh Orr (Energy), Luca Canderle (CRG) and Jono Thomas (Partners Hair Zanardi). Troy Dolinschek (Makita Top Kart) is enjoying a purple patch in the under-8 year old Cadets, but and Kyle Visser (Battery Energy), Adriaan Louw, Jason MacBeath, Julius Schwager and Paul Malcolm will be out to stop his winning streak. The Cape Clubmen can be expected to as usual deliver enthusiastic racing with Dale Fourie in Class A, James Fraser and Mark Manson in Class B and Dylan Mitchell and Mike Cook in C among the contenders. With qualifying in the morning, racing starts at midday Saturday 7 June over three heats per class, there’s entertaining commentary throughout and good grub and refreshments available in the Kart Café in the pits. Killarney is on Potsdam Road, Milnerton and the Kart Track is across the way from the main circuit pit complex. See you at Killarney!
