KILLER LIVED IN HOUSE ...Wheelchair suspect moved into Salma’s family residence months after murder of South woman By Gyasi Gonzales gyasi.gonzales@trinidadexpress Story Created: Jan 19, 2015 at 10:16 PM ECT Story Updated: Jan 19, 2015 at 10:16 PM ECT The wheelchair killer was living in the Caroni house with 19-year-old Salma Chadee and her family and had moved in a few months after he allegedly murdered Sherlene Mahangoo-Charles. Relatives of Chadee, a mother of one, however, remained mum yesterday on the relationship between herself and the man who is suspected of killing her. The suspect is also wanted for the murder of Mahangoo-Charles in May last year in South Trinidad. Police confirmed yesterday that the suspect lived at the Chadee Street, La Paille Village, Caroni, home with Salma Chadee, her 11-month-old son and her mother, Waheida Khan-Chadee, and her father and had begun living with them a few months after he allegedly murdered Mahangoo-Charles. According to police reports, on Saturday night the teenager was at her home in the company of the wheelchair-bound man and other relatives. Around 9.30 p.m., the group got into an argument in the upstairs part of the house during which the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot Chadee several times in her upper left chest. He then forced Chadee’s younger brother to pick him up and carry him downstairs following which the suspect, who has two broken legs sustained in an accident was tossed onto the yard of the house. He then dragged his way to a getaway car and made good his escape. The police and Emergency Health Services were notified but Chadee died shortly before their arrival. The Express asked relatives of Chadee at the Forensic Science Centre in St James yesterday how she ended up in a very close relationship with a man suspected of killing a woman. Chadee’s family refused to answer the question, stating that they were not emotionally ready at this time. “We are just not prepared at this point in time,” her mother Waheida, said. She added, however, that Chadee “loved her child and he was everything to her”. They had praises for the police. “The reason we don’t want to say anything is to let the police do their work and from what we saw this weekend they are really working hard and they really treated us with compassion,” Khan-Chadee said. The suspect’s other victim was a mother of four. Mahangoo-Charles was shot dead in her home at Tarodale Settlement on the outskirts of San Fernando in May 2014. Her daughter, Kimberly Mahangoo, 15, was also shot but has since recovered physically from her ordeal. In May 2014 the suspect is said to have chopped Mahangoo as well. Homicide Bureau investigators are continuing investigations. trinidadexpress/news/KILLER-LIVED-IN-HOUSE-289095691.html
