KILLING THE AMERICAN SPIRIT The Founding Fathers gave us The Constitution. Not for fame, not for fortune, not for egregious gratification…but for a collaborated participation of all in the pursuit of happiness. Yet by 2014, we continue to bear witness to the most solipsistic of endeavors wrought upon us by the greediest of politicians who only wish for two things: money and power. The saddest part in all this? Even some of my peers within the ranks of my very own beloved Republican Party of Florida have joined in the fray. Certain RPOF members have collaborated with elected officials in the dumbing-down of our message, the revocation of our oath, and the systematic violation of our basic Civil-Rights…not only the rights of everyday citizens, but also the rights of fellow up and coming candidates like myself. Some have asked me to throw in my ethnicity and gender to gain an advantage, yet I refuse. All I ask is for the chance to rebuild what an intrinsic few have destroyed for their own amusement and/or egos and/or monetary gain. The fact that some RPOF members have partaken in such selfish acts; such as covering up my name before Straw-Polls, blatantly ignoring my candidacy, and making every attempt to quell my voice, must not, and will not, stand. I have stood for and have rescued Human-Trafficking victims. I have started and aided multiple Chambers of Commerce. I have protected children via the 12th Judicial Court Guardian Ad Litem Program. I spearheaded the Miss Latina program and helped multiple girls with 2.0 or below GPA’s reach 3.0 and above by graduation. I’ve held the Sarasota School Board accountable for every last dollar spent, and demanded the resignation of a Superintended. I act as an advocate for victims of Stolen Identity, which included both Birth Certificates and Social Security Numbers of Puerto Ricans. In return for my service, had my car vandalize, tamper with my brakes (which led to a crash) during Senatorial Campaign in Sarasota; I’d been a volunteer for. I also had my identity stolen, for which he has been serving time and gets out this August. All for serving the Republican Party of Florida-Sarasota.. The question that looms in my head, is why someone would go to such great lengths to intimidate me? The only viable answer seems to be; because those in power fear the correction which sits patiently on the horizon…it’s not a matter of ‘if’ but a matter of ‘when’ the change will finally come. As a voter, I implore you to consider what you’re voting for and what you stand against…not so much who they are, but what they plan to do while in office. I say pick the one who realizes the American Spirit is alive and well, and that we won’t be intimidated into going home. ELIZABETH CUEVAS-NEUNDER FOR GOVERNOR 2014
