Erin and Claire DeLeon are home alone. Erin is about to watch a film when a masked man suddenly appears in the living room. For a moment she thinks it’s a friend joking around. 12 June 2013. In Huntsville State Penitentiary, preparations are underway for execution of Elroy Chester. A little after 6 p.m., he will be executed for the rape of Erin and Claire DeLeon and the murder of their uncle, Billy Ryman. It’s no surprise when the road around the prison is cordoned off for an execution. People in Huntsville are used to it – it’s just for an hour, just before 6PM. Business as usual in Huntsville, Texas. Killing Time reconstructs an old murder, and shows the impact on the family members and victims during the day of execution. The family of the victims and the prisoner, the guards, the pastors, the journalists, the demonstrators; everyone has his own way of killing the last few hours of Elroy Chester’s life. Where one yearns for the long-anticipated closure of the case, the other faces oblivion. Killing Time is about passing time, about seeing death. Set against the ticking of a clock.
