KIM rally in Manipur today IMPHAL: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) is all set to carry out rallies in separate locations across Manipur tomorrow (July 4) to express resentment over the alleged callous attitude of New Delhi towards the affected Kukis of the 1990s ethnic cauldron in Manipur. Alleging that in the 1990s the Kukis had endured the criminal and genocidal acts of the NSCN-IM, the KIM has stated that Government of India refused to address the plights of the affected Kuki people. According to the Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM), the protest rally will be carried out in Imphal and several other places in the hill districts including Moreh, Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Saikul, Churachandpur, Jiribam/Phaitol, Mongneljang in Ukhrul district and in Imphal. UNC objects to KIM rally SENAPATI, JULY 3 (MExN): The United Naga Council (UNC) has expressed concern at the the proposed rally of the Kuki Inpi Manipur in selected places of Manipur on July 4. The UNC, in a press note, objected to the opening of “old wounds and creating fresh hostilities.” “The UNC strongly believes that justice for the victims, be it Kukis or Nagas, can be achieved only when the quest for such is underpinned and founded on the spirit of reconciliation and forgiveness,” it added. “The GoM has gone beyond the sponsorship of the June 18 commemoration to allow a rally that opposes any peaceful and honourable settlement of the Indo-Naga issue,” stated the UNC. It maintained that the UNC respects and supports the rights and aspirations of other communities, just as we wish that ours is given its due.” It alleged that the rally “is being organised not in pursuit of any political demand but to demonise the Indo-Naga political dialogue.”
