KINESIOLOGY - what it is? Kinesiology is a “verification tool”. It originates from the root words “kinein” meaning “to move” and “aesthesis” meaning “perception”. Kinesiology originated in the 1960’s through the work of a chiropractor, George Goodheart, whose aim it was to enhance and improve the quality of his work. It is the philosophy of Kinesiology that we are created perfectly for what is we are to achieve in life. However, sometimes for various reasons, we find ourselves in distress. This is our body’s way of indicating that we are “off track’ and an area or areas, of life are in need of attention. Put differently, we present with dis-ease symptoms and this is the messenger our body uses to focus our attention on the fact that we are not living life to our full potential. KINESIOLOGY - how it works Kinesiology uses the scientific knowledge of the functioning of the muscles of the body and the Central Nervous system to identify areas of blockage and imbalance. What does this mean for you? It means that with practise and good intentions you can learn to identify, specific to you what has caused an imbalance, and why, and then to apply appropriate techniques to restore balance and harmony. Once back on track, we can continue living with a better quality of life. KINESIOLOGY - who is it for? Anybody and everybody! It is that simple. We have all experienced times where we were not in top form. This applies equally to physical, emotional and mental conditions. We know that it has been at those times that we most wanted help – and quickly. Kinesiology is an extremely gentle, non-invasive method of identifying what is going on, and why, and then applying suitable techniques to restore that sense of well-being we are looking for. Remember, the symptom is NOT the problem! Symptoms are merely messengers, the body communicating that there are imbalances present. You may be experiencing any of these “messengers” listed below. Headaches Learning difficulties Depression Neck and or back pain Insomnia Low blood sugar Allergies Sinusitis Relationship difficulties General malaise Low self-esteem Phobias or addictions Repeated infections Skin problems Digestive disorders Fatigue symptons Constipation Menstrual disorders The definition of Kinesiology “Kinesiology is the science of assessing the energetic systems of a person, for a balanced function, by using the change of physiological response through the muscular system as feedback. Using the same feedback, Kinesiology identifies any non-evasive treatment strategy to primarily affect and balance the energetic system of a person, for the purpose of promoting, restoring and maintaining health” The brain holds many mysteries and questions – and always has done. Theories are developed and continue to change as new information about its workings is made known. Kinesiology has discovered more than can be currently explained by present day theories and this spirit of discovery and acknowledgement of the wonders of the functioning of the human being and animals is what motivates us to accept that each being is unique and special and holds within both the questions and answers to improve the quality of life. We have been given a wonderful tool in the form of muscle monitoring to access these and this is the world of those of us who believe we can help transform the lives of others in a healthy positive form.
