KINGS UPSTAGE ELITE IN THE BATTLE OF SISTER TEAMS; COBRANCH MAKES IT 2 IN A ROW September 1, 2014 (San Carlos Seminary) - Two low scoring ballgames started the Ber months in KBL Season Two as KPT Kings handed defending champion KPT Elite its 4th straight loss, 60-45 while Cobranch closed out its elimination round record at 5-3 after defeating Global Payments, 50-41. In the first game, MJ Cortes had 12 points and 12 rebounds, John Dizon came in late in the 3rd quarter and barely missed his 6th double double in as many games played with 8 points and 12 rebounds while RJ Florendo finally made his KBL debut with 6 points and 8 rebounds as the Kings climb to a 3-4 record. Both teams were missing key players- Kings leading scorer Jomar de Jesus, Noel Sarmiento continued his DNPs while starting center Enzo Gallegos didnt play as well for Elite. The Joels, Ong and Marquez, led the way for the defending champions with 14 and 13 points respectively. In the second game, Paolo Brazal scored 21 points as Cobranch came from behind in the second half and survived a rare off game from Maio del Pilar, who was held to his KBL season low 8 points. Ralph Cobarrubias added 17 points and 6 assists while Kevin Sicat had a 2nd straight strong performance off the boards, grabbing 15 rebounds for Cobranch,who missed the services of starting point guard and KBL Season Two assist leader Julius Gonzales. Jessel Tuvida had 12 points and 13 for Global Payments, who were still up 18-15 at halftime before Brazal scored 8 of his total points at the start of the 3rd quarter to give Cobranch the lead for good.
