@KKMPutrajaya @AliHamsa55 @FaridaMohdAli #turunpadang - today I took the opportunity in conjunction with Mesyuarat Khas Ketua Pengarah Kesihatan to visit Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang (HTAR) together with all State Health Directors. HTAR history started way back in 1809. It is no doubt a congested hospital. For example, in patient workload of the Department of Medicine alone is increasing and they saw almost 32,000 admissions in 2012, perhaps it is more than total admissions of some our specialist hospitals. Total outpatient clinic attendance in the Department of Medicine in 2012 was more than 43,000. An innovation that has impressed me in HTAR is the Discharge Suite. There are many instances where patients who are discharged in the morning can be fetched by family members only in the afternoon or evening mostly due to work commitment. Discharge Suite was created as a transit area for these patients and their beds can then be occupied by other patients in need. I also had an opportunity to have a look at its prehospital care services and visited HTAR Medical Emergency Coordinating Centre (MECC). With the enhanced system, MECC is capable of tracking movement of ambulances in their locality and improve the way how to mobilise them during emergencies. During a dialogues with the Head of Departments, we also discussed various issues including dengue surveillance and management, hospital decongestion plan, human resource development and others.
