KLFW: Sonny San reveals the threads of fashion business So it begins – the annual Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) 2014, takes centre stage at the Pavilion, KL, over the next five days from today. The theme, for the second year running is Ready-To-Wear (RTW), and who better for fz to pay a visit to than Sonny San, being arguably the most experienced retail designer presenting at KLFW. It was less than two weeks to go, but we walked into Sans large factory-building office and were faced with a calm, collected well-oiled operation. A model was present to do some fitting for us, occasionally fussed over by a team of three co-ordinators making some adjustments. On a long table sat shoes, handbags and accessories that would go onto the runway and later into the eclipse stores around town and overseas. San stood a few steps away, surveying the scene with what may be described as mild interest; more like an observer. He only occasionally called out an opinion or request. Its telling, however, that the staffs react instantly with minimal instructions.
