Date Posted: 5/30/2014 ref#: 105882 Social Worker I/A/T (Hatteras Island) Dare County Department of Health and Human Services- Social Services Division is accepting applications for a Social Worker I/A/T for Hatteras Island. This is an advanced casework position providing protective, investigative, assessment and case management services for children who are at risk for abuse, neglect or dependency. Worker must be able to analyze situations and determine appropriate courses of action immediately or in a short time span and often under stressful conditions. The worker assesses individuals and family dynamics, crisis intervention, and makes referrals for treatment. The worker assesses initial safety and develops on-going Safety Plans with families as prescribed by federal and state guidelines. The worker must be able to assure provision of services that enhance the problem solving and coping capacities of families to reduce the risk to the children. The worker implements the Initial Services case plan and the ongoing In-Home Services plan including education and counseling with client, providing direct services according to the service plan, assessing changes and time limits, and making necessary referrals. The worker engages families, family support systems and community partners in Child and Family Team meetings to engage all parties in providing information regarding the families progress or lack of progress, identification of on-going safety needs and obtain input regarding further case planning efforts and goals. Position requires preparation of court reports and court appearances, to include testifying in court. Must be available to meet with families and children within a time frame that meets state policy and law as well as provides the greatest protection to the children. Position requires after hours work and participation in the on-call rotation. This position is assigned to the Hatteras Island Satellite Office. Minimum education and experience: Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience * Directly related experience is defined as human services experience in the areas of case management, interviewing and assessment, intervention, service planning and referral. Valid NC Drivers License, pre-employment drug test, and back ground check required. Salary range: $42,306-$54,998.
