KNOW MORE ABOUT MY GREAT COMMUNITY AMAEKPU OHAFIA *Nna Ofali Agwu the founder of Amaekpu was thought to be an idol worshiper and his shrine was the present AGA-EKE which he believed and referred to as Obasi Di Elu and run to it in time of need. *Amaekpu is the only Community in Ohafia that have four (4) Sections with four(4) heralding talking drums (Ikoro Amankwu, Ikoro Amukwa, Ikoro Ngodo, and Ikoro Amoba) *Amaekpu has fully independent functional econo-socio-political institutions.(Nde Ezie-ji, Nde Umuaka, Nde Akpan, Nde Ikpirikpe, Development Union, Age Grades, Youth Association etc) *Amaekpu has two (2) Nde Ezie-jis (Nde Ezie-ji Ndea Ofali and Nde Ezie-ji Ndea Igbon a Lekwa, Amoba) *Amaekpu have about thirty existing traditional named and non named age grades as at today. *Amaekpu was in court for 16 years(1992-2008) for Chieftancy tussle without shedding blood nor severing family ties and chains. *Amaekpu has Tourist attractions(Ezie Ofiri, Ifutititi and Ikoro-amoba) * Ikoro-amoba is the starting point of Ukogoro which flows to Amangwu, Okon-Aku down to Onu-asu Ikwun in Cross River State * The confluence of Ukogoro, Ibuobuo and Iyi-ocha streams formed what we have today as IFUTITITI water fall * It was Nna Odike Obuba Ebi (a Political Economist cum Herbalist) that brought age grade system in Amaekpu from Ukehe where he went for herbal sojourn(Ije-ogwu) which is why Ishi-Uke always comes from Ndea Odike Compound in memory of Nna Odike Obuba Ebi (Obuba Mbu Alugulu Udonsi Utobo) * Nna Ukpai Oti Ezema popularly known and called Nna Oru of Ndea Alum Compound who lived over 120 years is the longest living man in Amaekpu. *Amaekpu is the first Ohafia Community to be ruled by a Professor *Amaekpu is the first Community in Ohafia to own a Brass Band which was donated by Anyafumba age grade as their Ota-Omu project
