OUR PROBLEM and GOD’S ANSWER . God’s Word teaches us that sin is disobedience to God’s law of love (1 John 3:4; Exodus 20:1-17) God’s Word teaches us that everyone has broken God’s law and the penalty for sin (breaking God’s law) is death. Therefore we all deserve to die but God paid the penalty for each of us when God in the form of the Son of God (John 1:1-3), stepped down from the throne of the Universe, became a human baby and then a man and as the God man, Christ Jesus paid the just penalty for our sins by dying the death we deserve so we can have the life He deserves. He allowed evil men to mock Him, to spit on Him to rip the skin off His back with a whip embedded with bones and metal, to nail Him to a cross and to die an agonizing death, knowing He could have gotten off the cross at any time and gone back to heaven and left you and me to die in our sins. God loves you and wants you to spend eternity with Him. . LIVING POWER . We can say yes to Jesus Christ. God wants us to learn how to receive His POWER to life successfully in this life and prepare for the life to come. Most people have no idea how to receive God’s living power into their lives on a daily basis. It’s like having a beautiful new car with all the latest gadgets but having no fuel to put in the gas tank. In that case it doesn’t matter how beautiful or how expensive your car is – it has no power to go anywhere and is therefore useless. Most of the people of the world have a religion like that beautiful expensive car without gas, without power – it doesn’t work! . THE DIVINE SCIENCE OF SALVATION . How can we receive God’s power into our lives? The secret is that the fuel for our lives is found in God’s promises. You see God created this world into existence by speaking it into existence. His creative power is not like that of you and me. He does not need hands to create – all He needed to do was to speak the world into existence. Before God spoke there was nothing. But after God spoke, the very thing that God spoke came immediately into existence. GOD’S POWER AT CREATION? . “Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. Then God said, ‘Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.’ and it was so. Then God said, ‘Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear’; and it was so. Then God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth’; and it was so. Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth’; and it was so. Then God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind’; and it was so. GOD’S POWER OF HEALING? . This is what Jesus taught us in the story of the healing of the blind man. “Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, ‘Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.’ And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus answered and said to him, ‘What do you want Me to do for you?’ The blind man said to Him, ‘Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Go your way; your faith has made you well.’ And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.” Mark 10: 49-51. Before Jesus spoke the words, ‘Go your way; your faith has made you well,’ the blind man could not see but after Jesus spoke the words, ‘Go your way; your faith has made you well,’ the blind man was no longer blind. You and I are sinners and have a deadly disease that will rob us of everlasting life. Jesus, today is speaking directly to you through each of His promises that are scattered throughout your Bible. “He is speaking to us individually, speaking as directly as if we could listen to His voice. It is in these promises that Christ communicates to us His grace and power.” {Ministry of Healing page 122}. . HOW TO BECOME A SON OR DAUGHTER OF GOD! . “As God’s Holy Spirit brings to life the spiritual powers of your mind, you begin to see how evil and strong sin is. You feel the guilt and sorrow it brings, and you hate it. You feel that sin has separated you from God. Its power has made you a slave. The more you try to escape, the more you know that you cannot help yourself. You see that your life has been filled with selfishness and sin. Your heart is unclean and your desires are not pure. You want to be forgiven, to be clean, to be set free. But what can you do to be one with God and to be like Him?” {Steps to Jesus, page 46} – Steps to Jesus is “an easy English edition of the best-loved classic Steps to Christ.” “You need peace—Heaven’s forgiveness and peace and love. Money cannot buy that peace. Study will not give it. The mind cannot find it. Being wise will not provide it. You can never hope to receive this peace by your own work and power.” {Steps to Jesus, page 46}. . THE SECRET GOD WANT’S EVERYONE TO UNDERSTAND . “God offers His peace to you as a gift. ‘It will cost you nothing!’ Isaiah 55:1. It is yours if you will reach out your hands and take it. The Lord says, ‘You are stained red with sin, but I will wash you as clean as snow. Although your stains are deep red, you will be as white as wool.’ Isaiah 1:18. ‘I will give you a new heart and a new mind.’ Ezekiel 36:26.” {Steps to Jesus, page 46}. . You have confessed your sins and chosen to put them out of your life. You have decided to give yourself to God. Now go to Him and ask Him to wash away your sins. Ask Him to give you a new heart, a new mind. Then believe that He does this, because He has promised. Jesus taught this lesson when He was on the earth. You must believe that you receive the gift God promises and that it is yours. {Steps to Jesus, page 47}. . HOW DID CHRIST HEAL THE SICK? . Read the Bible stories about Jesus healing the sick. From them you can learn something of how to believe in Him for the forgiveness of sins. Turn to the story of the sick man at the pool of Bethesda. The poor man was helpless. He had not walked for 38 years. Yet Jesus said to him, “Get up, pick up your bed, and go home!”{Steps to Jesus, page 48}. . WILL YOU BELIVE? . The sick man did not say, “Lord, if You make me well, I will obey Your word.” No, he believed Christ’s word. He believed he was made well, and that very moment he tried to walk. He chose to walk. And he did walk. He acted on the word of Christ, and God gave the power. The man was healed. {Steps to Jesus, page 48}. . YOU MAY BELIEVE AND BE HEALED TODAY! . Now look at yourself. You are a sinner. You can do nothing to take away your past sins. You cannot change your heart or make yourself holy. But God promises to do all this for you through Christ. Believe that promise. Confess your sins and give yourself to God. Choose to serve Him. God will surely keep His promise to you if you do this. When you believe, God acts. You will be made clean and whole, just as Christ gave the sick man power to walk when he believed that he was healed. It is so if you believe it. {Steps to Jesus, page 48}. . ABC OF SALVATION . A- “ASK” B – “BELIEVE” . Jesus said, “When you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you ask for.” Mark 11:24. There is something important to remember in this promise. You must pray for those things that God wants you to have. God wants to free you from sin and make you His child. He wants to give you power to live a holy life. {Steps to Jesus, page 49}. . C – “CLAIM” . “I believe it. It is so, not because I feel it, but because God has promised.” Do not wait to feel that you are made whole. Say, “I believe it. It is so, not because I feel it, but because God has promised.” {Steps to Jesus, page 48}. . You may pray for these blessings and believe that you receive them. Then you may thank God that you have received them. You may go to Jesus and be made clean and stand before God’s law without shame or sadness. “There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1. {Steps to Jesus, page 49}. . BECOME A CHILD OF GOD - RIGHT NOW! . When you belong to Christ, you are not your own, for you are bought with a price. “God paid a ransom to save you..., and the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver.... But he paid for you with the priceless lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.” 1 Peter 1:18, 19, TLB. Because you believe what God has said, the Holy Spirit creates a new life in your heart. You are as a child born into the family of God, and He loves you as He loves His own Son. {Steps to Jesus, page 49}. . SAY IT - CLAIM IT EVERY DAY! . Now that you have given yourself to Jesus, do not turn back. Do not take yourself away from Him. Day after day say, “I am Christ’s. I have given myself to Him.” Ask Him to give you His Spirit and keep you by His grace. You became His child by giving yourself to God and believing in Him. You are to live in Him in the same way. The apostle Paul wrote, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,” Colossians 2:6 NKJV. {Steps to Jesus, page 49}. . Some people feel that they are on trial and must prove to the Lord that they have changed before they can receive His blessing. But they may receive the blessing right now. They must have His grace, the Spirit of Christ, to help them overcome their weaknesses. Without it they cannot fight against sin. {Steps to Jesus, page 50}. . COME TO HIM - AS YOU ARE SINFUL, HELPLESS, NEEDY, FOOLISH, AND WEAK AND HE WILL PUT HIS ARMS OF LOVE AROUND YOU! . Jesus loves to have us come to Him just as we are, sinful, helpless, and needy. We may come, foolish and weak as we are, and fall at His feet in sorrow for sin. It is His glory to put His arms of love around us, heal our wounds, and make us clean. {STJ 50.2. . Thousands believe that Jesus pardons other people, but not them. They do not believe what God says. But every person who truly repents can know for himself that God freely pardons every one of his sins. {Steps to Jesus, page 50}. . Do not fear. God’s promises are meant for you. They are for every person who is sorry for his sins. Christ sends angels to bring strength and grace to every believing person. Even the most sinful persons can be strong, pure, and righteous by accepting Jesus, who died for them. Christ is waiting to take away our sin-soiled clothes, and to put on us the clean, white clothes of righteousness. He wants us to live and not die. {Steps to Jesus, page 50}. God does not treat us the way people treat each other. He thinks of us with love, mercy, and pity. He says, “Let the wicked leave their way of life and change their way of thinking. Let them turn to the Lord, our God; for he is merciful and quick to forgive.” Isaiah 55:7. “I have swept your sins away like a cloud. Come back to me: I am the one who saves you.” Isaiah 44:22. {Steps to Jesus, page 51}. The Lord says, “I do not want anyone to die.... Turn away from your sins and live.” Ezekiel 18:32. Satan tries to keep you from believing the blessed promises of God. He wants to take away from you every bit of hope and every ray of light. But you must not let him do this. Do not listen to Satan. Say to him, “Jesus died so that I could live. He loves me and does not want me to die. I have a loving heavenly Father. Even though I have turned from His love and wasted His blessings, I will go to my Father. I will say, ‘I have sinned against Heaven and against You. I am no longer worthy to be called Your son. Treat me as one of Your hired workers.’” {Steps to Jesus, page 51}. THE DIVINE SCIENCE = SUCCESS . There is a Divine Science; it is a science that everyone who would make his lifework a success must understand! Christ says, Whatever things you ASK when you pray, BELIEVE that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:24. He makes it plain that our asking must be according to Gods will; we must ask for the things that He has promised, and whatever we receive must be used in doing His will. The conditions met, the promise is unequivocal. {Education, page 257} You and I can and must learn to trust God’s promises that He makes to us in His word. “The same power that Christ exercised when He walked visibly among men is in His word. It was by His word that Jesus healed disease and cast out demons; by His word He stilled the sea and raised the dead, and the people bore witness that His word was with power. He spoke the word of God, as He had spoken to all the prophets and teachers of the Old Testament. The whole Bible is a manifestation of Christ.’ {Ministry of Healing page 122}. . ASK, BELIEVE AND CLAIM HIS PROMISES AND BECOME HIS SON OR HIS DAUGHTER IMMEDIATELY! . The Scriptures are to be received as Gods word to us, not written merely, but spoken. When the afflicted ones came to Christ, He beheld not only those who asked for help, but all who throughout the ages should come to Him in like need and with like faith. When He said to the paralytic, ‘SON, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee;’ when He said to the woman of Capernaum, ‘DAUGHTER, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace,’ He spoke to other afflicted, sin-burdened ones who should seek His help. Matthew 9:2; Luke 8:48. {Ministry of Healing page 122}. . GOD SPEAKS TO YOU PERSONALLY THROUGH HIS PROMISES! . So with all the promises of Gods word. In them He is speaking to us individually, speaking as directly as if we could listen to His voice. It is in these promises that Christ communicates to us His grace and power. They are leaves from that tree which is ‘for the healing of the nations.’ Revelation 22:2. Received, assimilated, they are to be the strength of the character, the inspiration and sustenance of the life. Nothing else can have such healing power. Nothing besides can impart the courage and faith which give vital energy to the whole being. {Ministry of Healing page 122}. . MAKE THE LIFE OF FAITH IN GODS PROMISES PLAIN . How to exercise faith should be made very plain. To every promise of God there are conditions. If we are willing to do His will, all His strength is ours. Whatever gift He promises, is in the promise itself. The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11. As surely as the oak is in the acorn, so surely is the gift of God in His promise. If we receive the promise, we have the gift. {Ed 253.3} . NOW DO IT! FILL YOUR LIFE WITH GOD’S POWER! – RIGHT NOW! PRAY WITH ME -- PRAY THIS PRAYER BECOME HIS SON OR DAUGHTER RIGHT NOW! . “Father, Jesus healed a blind man with His word. I am that in the same need and condition – I’m helpless to live successfully – Please forgive my sins which are many. I ask You for the gift of forgiveness and a new heart claiming the gifts You promise me in these promises. You said, ““It will cost you nothing!” Isaiah 55:1. You said, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9. You said, “I will give you a new heart and a new mind.” Ezekiel 36:26. I confess that I am a sinner in need of forgiveness, cleansing, and healing. I believe these three promises you are making to me directly. I ask You to do in my life exactly what You promised You would do. I believe you are offering me the gifts of forgiveness, cleansing, and healing from sin. I believe you are offering me a new heart and a new life. I reach out my hands in faith grasping these three promises and these gifts that You are giving me right now at this very moment. I thank You for forgiveness of my sins, my thought sins, my word sins and my action sins. I thank You right now for these wonderful gifts You are giving me of freedom from the sin that has held me captive in Jesus name, Amen.” A.B.C. – A - ASK Jesus for the gift of forgiveness, cleansing, healing and a new heart and new life. B – Believe His promises that He has forgiven, cleansed, healed and given you a new heart when you asked Him based on His promises. Jesus said, “When you pray and ASK for something, BELIEVE that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you ask for.” Mark 11:24. C- CLAIM IT Do not wait to feel that you are made whole. Say, “I believe it. It is so, not because I feel it, but because God has promised.” {Steps to Jesus, page 48}. SAY IT NOW! - “I believe You have forgiven my sins and cleansed my life and given me a new heart and a new life, not because I feel it but because You have promised me. Thank You Father, in Jesus name, Amen.” JESUS SPEAKS TO YOU - He says, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Matthew 9:2; Luke 8:48. You are accepted as a son or daughter of God. There is no greater honor in all the universe. . Because you believe what God has said, the Holy Spirit creates a new life in your heart. You are as a child born into the family of God, and He loves you as He loves His own Son. {Steps to Jesus, page 49} This is how you and I become “born again.” Read John 3:3 and 3:7 and notice nobody can have eternal life without this New Birth. Most people do not understand this subject but notice how simple and wonderful it is to become a son or daughter of God, to be “born again! . Now that you have given yourself to Jesus, do not turn back. Do not take yourself away from Him. Day after day say, “I am Christ’s. I have given myself to Him.” Ask Him to give you His Spirit and keep you by His grace. You became His child by giving yourself to God and believing in Him. You are to live in Him in the same way. {STJ 49.4}The apostle Paul wrote, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.” Colossians 2:6.NKJV. . NOW YOU ARE TO WALK WITH GOD AS HIS SON OR DAUGHTER IN THE SAME WAY YOU BECAME HIS SON OR DAUGHTER, THROUGH FAITH IN HIS PROMISES. . The lapse of time has wrought no change in Christs parting promise to send the Holy Spirit as His representative. It is not because of any restriction on the part of God that the riches of His grace do not flow earthward to men. If the fulfillment of the promise is not seen as it might be, it is because the PROMISE is not appreciated as it should be. If all were willing, all would be filled with the Spirit. Wherever the need of the Holy Spirit is a matter little thought of, there is seen spiritual drought, spiritual darkness, spiritual declension and death. Whenever minor matters occupy the attention, the divine power which is necessary for the growth and prosperity of the church, and which would bring all other blessings in its train, is lacking, though offered in infinite plenitude. {AA 50.1} . FILL UP YOUR SPIRITUAL GAS TANK EVERY DAY BY ASKING, BELIEVING AND CLAIMING GODS PROMISES OF THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO FILL YOU WITH THE POWER OF GOD DAILY, HOURLY. . Since this is the means by which we are to receive POWER, why do we not HUNGER AND THIRST FOR THE GIFT OF THE SPIRIT? WHY DO WE NOT TALK OF IT, PRAY FOR IT, AND PREACH CONCERNING IT? The Lord is more willing to give the Holy Spirit to those who serve Him than parents are to give good gifts to their children. For the daily baptism of the Spirit every worker should offer his petition to God. Companies of Christian workers should gather to ask for special help, for heavenly wisdom, that they may know how to plan and execute wisely. Especially should they pray that God will baptize His chosen ambassadors in mission fields with a rich measure of His Spirit. The presence of the Spirit with Gods workers will give the proclamation of truth a power that not all the honor or glory of the world could give. {AA 50.2} . SAY IT OUT LOUD - CLAIM IT EVERY DAY . Day after day say, “I am Christ’s. I have given myself to Him.” Ask Him to give you His Spirit and keep you by His grace. You became His child by giving yourself to God and believing in Him. You are to live in Him in the same way. The apostle Paul wrote, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,” Colossians 2:6 NKJV. {Steps to Jesus, page 49}. . WALK WITH HIM DAILY IN THE SAME WAY YOU RECEIVED HIM ASKING, BELIEVING AND CLAIMING HIS PROMISES. . You begin your walk of faith believing that Jesus has a gift of forgiveness, cleansing, healing, and a new heart and a new live. Now you are to “walk” with the Lord Jesus Christ in the same way you received Him – Asking, Believing and Claiming His promises. “Every promise in the Word of God is for us. In your prayers, present the pledged word of Jehovah, and by faith claim His promises. His word is the assurance that if you ask in faith, you will receive all spiritual blessings. Continue to ask, and you will receive exceeding abundantly above all that you ask or think. Educate yourself to have unlimited confidence in God. Cast all your care upon Him. Wait patiently for Him, and He will bring it to pass.” Signs of the Times, November 18, 1903. “We are to come to God, not in a spirit of self-justification, but with humility, repenting of our sins. He is able to help us, willing to do for us more than we ask or think. He has the abundance of heaven wherewith to supply our necessities. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” God is holy, and we must pray, “lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” Signs of the Times, November 18, 1903. . NOW THAT I AM A SON OR DAUGHTER OF GOD – WHAT PROMISE CAN I CLAIM EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR IN MY WALK OF FAITH WITH JESUS? There are several but one of my favorites is Luke 11:5-13 – I quote part of it below. Read the rest of the promise from God’s Word. “ . GOD TELLS YOU TO ASK WITH PERSISTENCE - (LUKE 11:8 nkjv) KEEP ON ASKING, SEEKING and KNOCKING ON GODS DOOR . “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:9-13. You are now, as a son or daughter of God, living by faith in God’s life-giving promises – this is “justification by faith.” This is the third angel’s message of Revelation 14:6-12. “God considers you one of His “saints” “who keep the commandments of god and the faith of Jesus.” God is calling you to “be zealous and repent.” (Revelation 3:19). – Be zealous to learn more and teach more. Be zealous to “hunger and thirst” for more, much more of His Spirit and of a deeper understanding of God’s Word. (Matthew 5:6) And as you “hunger and thirst” to understand more and to teach others Jesus promises you “shall be filled.” I remain your brother in Christ and look forward to seeing you as an eternal brother or sister in God’s wonderful kingdom that shall never end but constantly be filled with joy and everlasting Adventure traveling the Universe – visiting millions of unfallen worlds. (Hebrews 1:2). We will forever love each other as brother and sisters of Jesus Christ who is God and man. It will be so wonderful to have God be your Savior, your Creator and Your God. Just to think of God letting you be His child and the brother or sister of Your Creator, Jesus Christ (John 1:1-3).
