KNOW YOUR HISTORY. You see, my ancestors were slaves too. They were treated just as bad and sometimes even worse. Irish slaves were cheaper and disposable. You should read this and share it. I do not attempt to diminish black slavery or its cruelty. Just know my people suffered the same. Even so, you dont see me using this as an excuse or reason for the world to Owe me a living. We dont have an Irish History Month. We do not call ourselves Irish-Americans. I dont get to play the Ginger Race Card. In this case, the color of our skin has caused our past to be forgotten, our history to be quietly swept under the rug. There are some who will call me racist for this post. Am I not allowed to share the story of my people? Should I remain silent because my skin looks just like those who were the Masters...? To all my Black brothers and sisters, we share a common beginning. We were enslaved by our own race in the name of money. Yes, most black slaves were caught and sold by their African brothers. Be it the result of warring tribes or otherwise. In the same turn, neither of us was ever a slave. Neither of us ever owned a slave. What we should do is come together and celebrate our freedom. Nobody should be discriminated against because of the color of their skin. Nobody should be given special treatment for the same reason either. We should only judge a person according to their character. Actions speak louder than any preconceived perceptions. We are all AMERICANS, born with freedoms most people could only dream of. We should never lose sight of the struggles of our ancestors, but we should strive to make our own history.
