KNUT ELECTIONS: I CAN VIE FOR ANY SEAT, SAYS SOSSION By Irungu Mwangi The Kenya National Union of Teachers Union (KNUT) is a movement for all teachers in the country and not an exclusive club for members of a particular region, KNUT Chairman Wilson Sossion has said. The official said there were no seats reserved for people from certain regions and any teacher from any part of the Country who is a member of the trade union is eligible to contest for any position. Speaking in Embu town during the World Teachers Day, Sossion said he might resign his current position and seek another elective seat within the giant Union adding that he may consider running for Secretary General if the delegates call upon him to do so. The Union’s national elections are due in the course of the year and Sossion is being pressured to go for the General Secretary’s seat which Mudzo Nzili, who is currently acting in that position, is also said to be eyeing. Embu County Union Executive Sectary Francis Gitari said the teachers should be left to decide who their next Secretary General will be.
