KOKODA - Day 6 Today was another cold 5am wake up ready for a 6am start. While it was a cold start, it sure didnt take long for the heat and humidity to set in as we covered a lot of challenging terrain, and passed through dry dusty villages in the open sun. One village we visited was Naduri Village where the last Fuzzy Wuzzy Angel, Ovoru Indiki lived. He was in church at the time so we sat outside and listened to the church service. It was very humbling to listen to the minister speak about how they were so very blessed, and thankful for everything they had, especially when there are so many who are malnourished throughout the world. The villagers along the track are very happy and thankful people who we have a lot to learn from. We then made our way to Efogi 1 where we all enjoyed a cold swim and lunch (Rice & Tinned Spaghetti). We then passed through Efogi 2 and made our way up to Brigade Hill where we set up camp. We explored the area, ate popcorn for a late afternoon snack, curried sausages for dinner, and had many laughs as we dried our clothes over the fire. The views as be hiked along sheer cliff edges today were breathtaking and I was again thankful for this experience and reminding myself that I really was in the middle of PNG on the Kokoda Trail.
