The inability to distinguish between needs and wants make people crave for material things, greedy and covetous, spend unnecessarily, live beyond their means etc. A want is generally about ego. However, when we choose to deny ourselves of the pleasure of our wants, we put ourselves in a position, where God can use us to meet the needs of others. Those who get engrossed in what they WANT are usually insensitive to the needs of others. Compared to the early church, most church folks today are ambitious, egoistic, selfish, and prone to materialism and comfort, even when it means lying and cheating others to get it.
