KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 30, 2014): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today called on Malaysians to reject any form of threat, violence or any other act of extremism that would strain the harmonious relationship shared and enjoyed by various races in Malaysia. In his Chinese New Year greetings, he said that while people rejoice in welcoming the Year of the Horse, the unity and racial harmony that Malaysians have enjoyed so far must be upheld. “I believe we should all listen to the voice of reason. It is therefore incumbent upon us to act sensibly and to listen to each other’s views,” he said in a post on his blog 1Malaysia.my “In Malaysia’s cultural melting pot, we must respect the rule of law and proceed with sensitivity toward other people’s beliefs.” He said it was also imperative at a time like this to reflect on the year that has just passed and count the blessings bestowed upon Malaysians thus far. “Despite the transformation advances we have made, we have ... much work to do. “The transformation programmes need support from all walks of life – especially so from the Chinese who are known for their entrepreneurial skill,” he said. He also thanked the Chinese community for the nation-building role they had played since Independence.
