KUKI APEX BODY ARRIVES IN AIZAWL : MEET CYMA AND MZP LEADERS AIZAWL : November 17, 2014 Under the sponsorship of IGSS, The Kuki Inpi Churachandpur (KIC), the apex governing body of all the Kuki tribes in Manipur arrived here at Aizawl on November 11, 2014. KIC is backed by some of the tribes’ frontal organisations including KSDC (Kuki Statehood Demand Committee), KCA (Kuki Chief Association), KSO (Kuki Students Organisation), KWHRO (Kuki Women Human Rights Organisation). The KIC held a meeting with leaders of CYMA (Central Young Mizo Association), the largest NGO in Mizoram and MZP (Mizo Zirlai Pawl or Mizo Students Association) in their respective offices. The meeting comes out with a number of conclusion inclucing CYMA’s dedication in supporting the Kuki’s struggle for attaining Statehood in Manipur. The CYMA affirmed that if there is need for signature as an implication of their support of the Kuki’s political aspiration, the organisation will be obliged to do so. Beside this, KIC meeting with MZP leaders also bore fruitful results. Both sides agreed to entrust a Kuki representative in the MZP and appointed Mr. Ngamboi Doungel as Executive Member. The Kuki side also acknowledge the altruistic espousal shown to them by promising to send delegates from Kuki tribes in the coming ‘Zo Fest’ to be held at Jorhat, Assam as a gesture of goodwill and brotherhood. Kuki is a generalisation term for all the Zo ethnic tribes in Manipur which has a population of about 4-5 lakhs. They are scattered in all the hill districts in Manipur. During the MNF struggle for freedom, many Kuki volunteers from Manipur joined the movement and many of them held a coveted official post in the MNF underground government. (Nominate) 4. Thangcha Sitlhou of Imphal – Deputy Commissioner (D.C.) 5. Aseh Thangeo of Sapormeina – Additional Deputy Commissioner (D.C.) 6.
