KUNSILL GENERALI AMMINISTRATTIV Yesterday we sat in the conference room at the Grand Hotel in Gozo and participated in the Kunsill Generali Amministrattiv. This is a particular meeting held for councillors of the party with the aim of reporting on all the administrative acts and actions taken by the party. The most gratifying part of the meeting was to listen to young, motivated and passionate speakers, one after the other, all leading new sections and fora set up within the party structures after last years defeat, all aimed at reaching out to the various factions and sectors of Maltese society which decided to give labour a chance in the last elections. The amount of work done over this past year is actually amazing and even listing it all is quite a task. Since March 2013 the party has embarked on the following: a commission which reported on the reasons behind the loss; a commission which has drawn up a new statute making it more relevant to todays society; the adoption of the new statute; a commission which is vetting and selecting candidates for general, MEP, and local elections, which already delivered for the MEP elections and now for the local elections; a commission charged with reporting on the financial situation; the setting up of a Forum for Professionals, Forum for Businesses, Forum for Equal Opportunities, Forum for small businesses, Forum for ex M.Ps and ex Party officials, Forum for councillors, Forum for candidates, Forum for solidarity with workers. There has been the Organisation of the thousands of volunteers which the party needs to get back up to speed with this being a continuous on going process. The above does not include the major efforts which have been made and which will be on going, related to the restructuring of the partys media and finances - all very important efforts which cannot and must not be underestimated. Finally our party has always been the party which has given this country the best possible opportunities for the entire population and with this firmly in mind the party has established 10 policy fora with a view to attracting persons who can contribute toward the development and continuous development of the partys policy on Education, Health, Culture and the arts, European and Foreign affairs, Justice and Home Affairs, Social Policy, Gozo, The Environment - Agriculture and Fisheries, Finance, the future. Good governance has to be of course a fundamental tenet and for this reason a Bord Revizuri was also set up to examine and audit all the various sections and activities of the party. The list of new initiatives and solid work done this year is indeed impressive and it is now up to each and every one of us to come forward and do our bit. Dont just sit there do something !
