KURT’S DAILY MUSE: “Made December June” March 4, 2014 There are two things that will change a person’s heart more than anything else in life. The first is the moment of salvation, when we receive the unconditional love of Jesus Christ, and know that we now have everlasting life with God. The other is the moment we realize we will spend our lives with the object of our affections. One young woman came to work and started passing out cigars and candy, neatly tied with blue ribbons. When asked what the occasion was, she proudly showed the solitaire on her left ring finger and announced, “It’s a boy!...6 feet, 185 pounds!” Tennyson wrote: “Their meetings made December June. Their every parting was to die.” People in love will do the strangest things. There seems to be a chemical imbalance during courtship that defies all reason – just watch “The Bachelor.” Baudelaire wrote: “What is irritating about love is that it is a crime that requires an accomplice.” One of life’s favorite questions is to ask a happily married couple, “How did you two meet?” Every couple is unique. Every love story original. And for most, love and romance are unexplainable. Love is a delicate flower which must be kept from icy winds, well-watered with kindness and affection, fed large helpings of praise, and warmed by the sunlight of confidence and trust. In turn, when love blooms, it fills the world with its own captivating fragrance. “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord” (Prov. 18:22). By the Way: This may not seem like a very spiritual Muse, until you realize that the Lord Jesus likens His Body and Church as the Bride of Christ, for whom He has given His life.
