KURZWEIL Interviews MINSKY: Is Singularity Near? [ A Great Interview !!! ] Minsky says some similar things that I have been saying recently in some facebook conversations. So, now and here, I will express my ideas a bit better : On average, scientists are significantly more intelligent than the average ordinary people. But unlike what some naive people believe and say, BENEVOLENCE and BETTER ETHICS are NOT a NECESSARY OUTCOME of HIGHER INTELLIGENCE. Evidence of that is that you find SIMPLETONS who are NICE PEOPLE and SMART and SOPHISTICATED PEOPLE who MANIPULATIVE and EVIL ( and any other combinations of various degrees of these characteristics in the intermediary levels of this gradient ). Which immediately demolish the NAIVE ASSUMPTION that higher intelligence ( lets say advanced AI ) will produce necessarily benevolence and compassion. Furthermore, Minsky is yet another wise person ( one of the founder fathers of AI ) who, unlike some people who is turning AI into a RELIGIOUS CULT, is also WARNING of POSSIBLE PERILS of AI when it will become so intelligent and autonomous that it could start changing radically, speedily and recursively its own code and deciding to do things that might no be for the good of our species. Perhaps, if we start merging with them, it will be a lesser problem. However, when I realize that between those who call themselves transhumanists we found a significant number of people who make mockery or are indifference to benevolence, compassion and altruism ( people with some degree of psychopathy ) I become a bit apprehensive about the possible future scenarios.
