KWANKWASO CHARGES ICAN ON PROFESSIONALISM Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano state has challenged the members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, not to compromise prudence and accountability in discharge of their professional duties. Receiving the President of the Institute, Alhaji Kabiru Alkali Muhammad, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Kano, Governor Kwankwaso pointed out that accountability and prudence as the key to successful management in any organization, stressing that as professionals, accountants must protect their integrity by living up to their code of ethics. He explained that his administration places very high premium on accountability, adding that this is the reason behind its abandoning unnecessary expenditure and blocking of fiscal leakages in the public service. Turning to the new president, the governor congratulated him over his election, assuring him of government’s support and cooperation for him to succeed, assuring that government will expedite action on the provision of land for the Institute to build it permanent office in Kano. In his speech earlier, the ICAN President, Alhaji Kabiru Alkali told the governor that they are at the government house to express support to the governor over the tremendous people-oriented projects currently going on in the state. Alhaji Alkali, who requested for more support for the Institute from government, called on the governor to continue investing in youth empowerment to curtail the social vices associated with unemployment.
