KWANKWASOS LOST BID TO RESCUE NYAKO FROM LAWMAKERS- - Kushi George AIT news The political nightmares of the embattled Governor of Adamawa state Murtala Nyako worsened on Monday night, as the Kano state Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s, four hours meeting with the Adamawa state House of Assembly to reconcile the members and Nyako ended without positive result. The Adamawa lawmakers were led to the meeting by the speaker Hon. Ahmed Umar Fintri, while the national vice chairman of All Progressive Congress [APC] north east Alhaji Umar Duhu, the state chairperson of APC Ms. Binta Garba were the supporting staff to Nyako during the futile meeting. AIT gathered that during the meeting after Kwankwaso finished preaching his over three hours political gospel to the aggrieved lawmakers, the speaker in simple terms told the Kano governor that his visit was like a doctor treating a decomposing corpse. The speaker who was quoted by one of the member in the meeting said, “ The speaker who spoke our minds told the Kano governor that it is too late to reconcile the House with Nyako, why are you not having problem with your members, have you ever closed Kano Assembly?, why didnt you come here when the Adamawa governor close the Assembly for over two months?, we as members are answerable to our electorate, so we cannot continue to watch when the destiny of our people being to foreign countries” The member who spoke on condition of anonymity said that some lawmakers were angered by the media reports suspected to be sponsored by the Nyako group to maligned the image of the members over alleged N250 million bribe to impeach the governor. “How can we reconcile with someone who’s supporters are blackmailing us, let them continue with the blackmail, it cannot stop us from doing our constitutional duty. We are not answerable to the governor, we are answerable to our electorate, so whatever we are doing the interest of the people of the state is primary”, he stated. Kwankwaso who spoke to journalists after the lawmakers hurriedly left the venue of the meeting refused to comments on the outcome of their discussion, but claimed that he was in the state to discuss with Nyako on issues that can benefit the two states [Kano and Adamawa]. In a swift reaction to the situation, the state PDP Chairmain Chief Joel Madaki accuse d governor Nyako of failing to confront the myriad of problems befalling his administration, Party Chairman who led the PDP Exco to the House of Assembly listed corrupt practices, injustice, misuse of accruable financial resources of the state, misapplication of flood victims assisted funds, non payment of civil servants entitlements, mass defection of members from the APC to PDP etc as the bane to the governors downfall. Madaki applauded the house of Assemblys stance to remain resolute in their resolve to remain with the PDP , the party on whose platform they were elected rather than follow Governor Nyako to an unknown destination. The party chairman gave kudos and support to the decision of the state House of Assembly who gave an ultimatum for the payment of civil servants two months outstanding salaries and the refund of the illegal deductions from the May 2014 salary of workers by the Nyako led administration.
