Ka Honoka – Kai Tahu Alumni Exhibition Exhibition Dates: 10 to 26 September, 2013 Open: 10.00 to 4.00pm Monday to Friday Venue: Dunedin School of Art Gallery, Riego Street (off Albany Street) The Ka Honoka exhibition is a showcase of Kai Tahu graduate artworks from The Dunedin School of Art spanning over 40 years. Ka Honoka means “connections” in English touching on themes of personal and cultural identity. The Ka Honoka exhibition will celebrate the past successes of Kai Tahu graduates from the Dunedin School of Art and the relationships formed between the School and the Kai Tahu community. Many of the graduate artists included in the exhibition have gone on to achieve national and international recognition with the likes of Rachael Rakena who recently exhibited at the Venice Biennale and Professor Ross Hemera who has sculptures on permanent display it Te Papa o Tongarewa. The exhibition will encompass a variety of art mediums including, digital art, sculpture, textiles, printmaking, painting and jewellery. The Ka Honoka exhibition is the first of its kind, and has been curated by Simon Kaan who is currently in the role of Maori Academic Advisor and Student Mentor at the Dunedin School of Art.
