Kadishat for this week The Ancestry of Jesus Sunday. The Gospel reading indicates that the promises of God, made to Abraham, for the salvation of mankind are fulfilled in Jesus Christ and from this family tree the Salvation is extended to all peoples, to the whole human family, all of whom are descendants of Adam and Eve, no longer just to the descendants of Abraham. Jesus is the new Adam and Mary is the new Eve. Through Baptism, we become the new chosen people; the elect of the Father. This week we celebrate Christmas. Christmas Day is a day of joy as it marks the beginning of our salvation history. Celebrating Christmas with our family makes our observance of the Lords Nativity all the more religious. A family Christmas allows the child within us all to recognize the deep symbolic treasure of the days meaning. The day after Christmas is the day when the Church offers congratulations to Mary. Marys hymn of praise is offered to all who await redemption. In Mary, we see that God has exalted the lowly.
