In this day of temporary relationships, true friendship is rare. Kapag nakatagpo ka nga daw ng isang tunay na kaibigan para kang nakatagpo ng napakalaking kayamanan. So, how can you find and develop lasting friendships? Proverbs gives us some guidance: To have a friend, be a friend. Go out of your way to show that you are interested in their lives. Ask questions. Paano ba maging tunay na kaibigan? Look for friends with common interests. Common interests are a great starting point and lend themselves to connecting more easily. Schedule a first date. There is nothing wrong with approaching someone, indicating that you think you have something in common with them, and inviting them to get coffee or dinner. Youre not asking for a lifetime commitment, but just a chance to see if you connect. Make a commitment. Once you begin a friendship, you must be purposeful in developing it. Getting together regularly, sharing the ups and downs of life, and supporting one another are all aspects of a healthy friendship. Both people must commit to nurturing the relationship and keeping each other accountable to it. Ang tunay na kaibigan ay may lakas ng loob na sabihin sa iyo ng harapan ang mga bagay na kailangan mong itama. They are the one asking you hard questions.... hindi mo kailangang umaayon lagi para patunayan na tapat kang kaibigan, ang pagsalungat ay palatandaan ng pagmamalasakit at pagtutuwid kung kinakailangan. Wag kalimutan, to experience lasting friendship, be an encourager. A true friend is someone who tells the truth, but always with your best interests at heart. Have fun. The icing on the cake of friendships is to have fun together. Ang akala ng iba ang pagkakaibigan ay para lang sa mga fun activities. Masarap nga naman kasi kung laging may schedule na galaan, kainan, at kung anu ano pa....Subalit wag kakalimutan na hindi lang yon ang sukatan kung bakit ka nakikipagkaibigan. To cement a friendship, be loyal. Demonstrate your willingness to love them unconditionally, even when your friend is not lovable. Be supportive even when your friend is not popular. And never, ever forget there is Someone who wants to be your Friend, Who is interested in you, Who is loyal and supportive, and encourages you to do your best. That person is Jesus Christ. Decide today to let Him be your best friend. He will never let you down and He is available 24/7.
