Kaizer Chiefs made Itumeleng Khune. Not the other way round. One - TopicsExpress

Kaizer Chiefs made Itumeleng Khune. Not the other way round. One day there will be no Itumeleng Khune on the field of play but there will be Kaizer Chiefs Football Club. There was Kaizer Chiefs before Itumeleng Khune and there will be Kaizer Chiefs after Itumeleng Khune. Those who have great wishes to see Itumeleng Khune playing for their clubs are noted and are not wrong to wish for the best goalkeeper in the country and arguably one of the top in the continent. However, as high as he is rated, business sense could dictate that Khune is best moving overseas than moving to a local. Khune playing for the greatest football club in the country could only see his career moving forward when he moves overseas. He has qualities. Khune has a few years before he could retire so money now would not be as important as strengthening his career by rather focusing on the job at hand at Kaizer Chiefs and wait for a move overseas. For Brian Baloyi it was an issue of retirement so he went for money at Sundowns as his age was madala-ish.... Some say Khune is worried Brilliant Khuzwayo will take his place and so on... poor Pirates fans. Khune is more experienced than Khuzwayo so Khune will always play. Look, its not like at Pirates or Sundowns where players are not rotated. Pirates put the Ghanaian no1 goalkeeper on the bench until the poor guy decided to move on. He was never given a chance. At Chiefs, Baxter rotated players and keepers hence Khuzwayo and Pieterse were all fit and ready to assist when Khune got injured. Now, with Champions League, Nedbank and the league in the picture, it means there will be plenty matches and Baxter will put all his players to the test unlike Pirates goalkeepers. It was understandable when Musonas agent kept him abroad despite the fact that he didnt have a club. He knew by his qualities, Musona is best in Europe. Khunes agent also says Khune will leave Kaizer Chiefs for an overseas club not a local one. By Khunes qualities, it makes business sense. Career-wise what will Khune achieve by joining Sundowns or Orland Pirates? If he wanted to retire and make quick cash he could jump to Sundowns and grab easy cash there. He wants to advance his career to another level beyond PSL. Thats all for now. No other club can do that beyond Kaizer Chiefs. Bobby will not panic and break the bank out of budget. If Khune wants to go it mean his heart and soul is somewhere. You can think Peter Balac, Patson Banda, Botende Eshele, Wade du Plessies, Brian Baloyi, the list is endless... Kaizer Chiefs know this business. Lastly, even when Itumeleng Khune go, Chiefs will always produce the best goalkeepers in the country. Khuzwayo is now going to play in AFCON. We will always spot and nurture talented goalkeepers. Players came and went but Kaizer Chiefs continue with the glory. Kaizer Chiefs will give him the blessings should he decide to go.
