Kakamega county under the able stewardship of governor Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya is scaling the heights all round and now secondary sports is another frontier on its national accolades. Hereunder is the score board: 1. Kakamega High school lifts the national boys soccer trophy after thrushing Kisumu boys; 2. Butere girls lifts the national girls soccer tropthy; 3. Malava boys lifts the national volleyball trophtyafter thrushing Chepti; 4. St. Peters Mumias boys high school(the academic giant in national exams in the county) lifted the National rugby 15s trophy in mombasa in April 2014 and are set for East African games in Dar-es-salaam this August under the leadership of Principal Godfrey Owori and the sterling coach Brother Fred Shimenga Livondo. Congradulations to the individual schools for the effort put in that has now placed kakamega county on the national radar.
