Kalyana Nada - is a beautiful 11.5 ha peice of land. Aquired with the idea of establishing an Awakened Intentional Community with the vision of sustainable living and Permaculture. The Land itself as a Forest Project This 11.5 Hectares (28 acres) of beautiful land near the remote village of Lardosa in North Eastern Portugal was established as a “Forest Project” registered with IFAP and the Ministerio da Agriculture in 1989. Between 1990 and 1994 the land was re-planted with 10,000 tree species (mainly Stone Pine and Cork Oak) In addition to this re–forestation project – Kalyana Nada has had many different species of Tree plantings including: Fig Tree Olive Trees Common Ash Common Hawthorn Red Oak (American Oak) Maritime Pine Eucalyptus Trees Common Oak European Oak Poplar Strawberry Tree Black Mulberry Sweet Cherry Common Walnut The land is on a South Easterly slope – strewn with large grey Granite boulders with several small wooded areas which are a mixture of Pine and Oak. At its lowest point it has two large Agricultural terraces with granite retaining walls and a “Celtic Well.” The land has a freshwater spring and an Irrigation Dam and the South Eastern lower most land boundary is a Freshwater stream. The ground cover is a mixture of Grasses, Bracken, Heather, Bramble and herbaceous plants. Predominant Wild fauna is Wild Boar, Partridge, Griffon Vulture, Imperial Eagle, Blue and Black Wheatear,The Black Stork and the possibility to observe a huge variety of birds
