This, a wonderfully poignant contemporary account of the Battle of Pukehinahina (Gate Pā) through the eyes of one of its descendants, Te Utanga Tautuhi (Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Porou). If you have been following me over the last couple of years, you would know that this kaupapa is something very dear to my heart, and the hearts of my people. My song, They Come Marching, talks about the advancement of General Cameron (Kamerana) and his troops towards Gate Pā on the morning of April 29th, 1864.
