Kampala does not need the technology shown in this picture. - TopicsExpress

Kampala does not need the technology shown in this picture. Except, maybe for the fun of it. However, as I have always argued at forums. Making the five former seats of Regional governments namely Mbale, Jinja, Gulu, Masaka and Mbarara major cities to reckon with besides Kampala is what our Country needs. Then upgrade the townships to municipalities, villages to townships, little corner shops to shopping centers (West Field style) with powerful infrastructure and with some smooth but low maintenance roads and streets. That is what you find in Mombasa and Kisumu in Kenya laced with International Airports. This is possible if there is will and not greed in the Presidency of Uganda. A Servant and not a Master of the People. The donors I have spoken to are willing to invest in this way with zero tolerance on corruption. If what is on offer in Kampala can be readily be found in Mbale, Jinja, Gulu, Masaka and Mbarara why would anybody want to leave the kindred behind for the brighter lights elsewhere that can also be found in his backyard? In Australia I lived in Sydney before, but hello, try Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth, and now where I live Canberra oh my these are massive cities. But Dubbo is nearly the size of Nairobi. Wagga Wagga and other cities are equally inhabited. Some of the larger cities are 6 times the size of Kampala! Listen, I built the road to my parents home without government assistance. The government however has continued from where I stopped. I started a water project, they expanded on it. Now I am laying down poles for street lighting to my Parents home so that the government I am pretty certain will proceed from there. It is to their shame if they do not. In the coming months we intend to release a policy platform on how we intend to rebuild Uganda from scratch and make it a place and country, other nations want to come to. My challenge is that. What is yours? I am on hand for any work ahead.
