Kano Pillars stars Gambo Mohammed and Shagari Mohammed will miss Thursday’s Charity Cup clash against Enyimba due to injury and illness. Gambo has a minor tear, while Shagari is suffering from malaria fever. Thursday’s clash is expected to be a grudge clash after Pillars pipped Enyimba to the league championship and a so a league and cup double this past season. Enyimba spanked Pillars 4-0 at home in the league, but the return leg in Kano was replayed in Lokoja after it was abandoned with Pillars leading courtesy of a late Gambo Mohammed goal. The ordered replay was equally dramatic as substitute Mannir Ubale netted a late, late match winner for Pillars. Both teams talked tough ahead of this rematch. Enyimba number one goalie Femi Thomas believe his team will beat Kano Pillars to this trophy. We are ready to face Pillars for the charity shield. My aim is to win it and claim the second trophy of the year with Enyimba, Thomas assured. Pillars striker Kabiru Umar said that the target too is the trophy. We will go to the pitch with the aim to win and put in our best, said Umar, who will combine Ubale in the Pillars attack. Star midfielder Rabiu Ali will play alongside utility player Shehu Abdullahi and experienced campaigner Bello Musa Kofarmata, while fullback Nazifi Ammani has returned from a long-term injury. The league champions will be tinkered by assistant coach Kabiru Baleria in the absence of Abdu Maikaba, who is in coaching school and Mohammed Babaganaru, who according to Pillars chairman is on a five-day leave to see his family.
