Kapolei Public Library will be screening the documentary Freedom Riders, the last of four films shown as the Created Equal: Americas Civil Rights Struggle initiative, tomorrow (Saturday), November 16, from 1 to 2 p.m. The Freedom Rides of 1961 were a pivotal moment in the long Civil Rights struggle that redefined America. Based on Raymond Arsenault’s recent book, this documentary film offers an inside look at the brave band of activists who challenged segregation in the Deep South. The film will be accompanied by comments and discussion led by historian Jon Davidann from Hawai‘i Pacific University.
