Karamullah Ghori, the popular Pak columnist, had opined that Modi as PM holds the best chance for a satisfactory level of Indo-Pak relations, similar to the period of Vajpayee( bus diplomacy sabotaged by Musharaf’s Kargil misadventure), for one reason: a robust, predictable policy by an Indian PM. The people know the good, bad and the ugly, of Modi. Call it cynical, but with the UPA government’s institutionalized twists and turns on all matters- industry to integrity , and with no other leader or political institution with a definite, sustainable programme in the horizon, we cannot blame those who feel he should get a try. As against fear of his evolving into a Hitler, haven’t we gained enough self confidence in protecting our democracy- we threw out ‘the Iron Lady’ and reformed her?.
