Karen here... My five cats are doing fine. They are happy to be home. All of them are eating well and sleeping with me as always. One thing makes me sad. They are calling and searching for their other family members that will never be home again. I wish I could explain it to them. I am going to try to give my side of some stories that AHA has posted on their Facebook page. Those of us who have tried to answer their allegations have our posts deleted and have been banned from posting on their page. I hope some of their supporters are reading this page. These people have not been told the truth and for some reason are not trying to investigate the situation independent of what they have been told by AHA. We have heard from a few people who observed things that seemed contradictory to what AHA was telling them. They had investigated and learned the truth. I am going to pick out some things that AHA has said about me and give my side for whatever its worth. If anybody bothers to check these things out, they will find that Im telling the truth. AHA has stated that my cats were dehydrated and malnourished when they got them at the Aurora Animal Shelter. The cats were not dehydrated or malnourished when they were taken from my home. AHA has gone so far as to accuse me of not providing nourishing food and clean water. I have always purchased premium dry foods for my cats. There was always dry food available. I kept it in large mixing bowls. There were 4 bowls upstairs and another 4 downstairs. Their water bowls, 6 of them, were wiped out and refilled no less than twice a day. I fed primarily Pro Plan and Purina One. I have also fed Nutro Max Cat, Royal Canin, and Iams before it was purchased by Proctor and Gamble. They get wet food twice a day, mostly Friskies and Nine Lives. I do buy some more expensive foods for them occasionally. I belong to the Purina Pro Club and save the bar codes from the Purina foods which I turn in for $6.00 checks. Each check is good on 1 bag of any Purina food. Thats a pretty significant saving when you are feeding a lot of cats. As to the condition of the cats when AHA got them, at that time, they had been in the Aurora Animal Shelter for 12 days. Most of them were scared out of their wits. It wouldnt surprise me if some of them huddled in a corner and didnt eat. Dogs bark 24 hours a day in that place Most of my cats have never seen a dog. I could see the fear in their eyes. I visited them frequently in an effort to keep them from feeling abandoned. I was in a long term care facility when my cats were seized, trying to recover from the latest in a year long series of surgeries and injuries. I left the nursing center so many times during that time period that Medicare would no longer pay for that treatment and I went home. I was there that time because I had fallen on ice and fractured the femur in my left leg. It was a bad break. My leg folded up under me, went up my back and my foot was sitting on my shoulder. My prosthetic knee was completely dislocated. After surgery, I couldnt put any weight on that leg for 6 weeks. I had just been given permission to put weight on it using a walker when the cat problem occurred. I did too much walking and ended up with stress fractures in both feet. Nothing can be done for those. They must heal on their own. I will post more after I charge the battery in my phone.
