Kasha Varnishkas anyone? When my kids think of their Grandma Edie - TopicsExpress

Kasha Varnishkas anyone? When my kids think of their Grandma Edie they remember her famous Kasha Varnishkas--it is Jewish dish made from toasted buckwheat, onions and pasta. To die for! Today my mom would have turned 100--except she needed to leave her body 14 years ago. I really miss her - even though I know she is here. I wrote this short poem for her and, in case anyone identifies, I thought Id share it here and on my website. Remembering My Mom on Her Birthday You left this plane And your body behind Fourteen years ago. Yet you are with us still. I know you come when I call you or just think about you And the same holds true for my kids. I do not know exactly how you rearrange the artwork on my walls And I really cannot fathom how you move the area rug on the floor. I’m just glad I know it’s you And I am grateful too. Living as Energy Eternal You are as you always were and always will be Whole and perfect and free from pain, from sadness Living in Love and Joy you continue To let me feel safe I know I am never alone And wherever I call home You are here with me Loving me Loving us all Still, I miss you. I often go to the phone to call you to share something special Until I remember you already know And I won’t hear your voice on the phone You’re here in my home In my heart Forever So glad I chose you to be my Mom
