Kashmir students demand migration from Chandigarh College: Srinagar, September 01: A group of Kashmir students on Monday, who were allegedly thrashed in a Chandigarh College, last month, held a protest demanding migration from the institute here . The students assembled in Pratap Park and demanded migration from Swami Parmanand College of Engineering & Technology (SPCET). On August 27, the students were thrashed by local students and residents because they were watching Pakistan versus Sri Lanka match in their hostel rooms resulting in injuries to 6 students. However, the students today claimed that they were not assaulted as a result of watching Pakistan match but blamed hostel warden for assaulting them. “Sandeep Kumar, the warden, abused us and when we asked him to apologize, he instigated local students and they thrashed us ruthlessly,” the students told reporters here. “Despite being thrashed, we preferred silence because we feared for our careers, but after sometime we were again thrashed but this by locals. Many among us sustained injuries,” they said. The students said they are not secure in the institute and demanded admission in Kashmir colleges. “We want migration because we are not secure there. Our lives are under threat,” they added.
