Kashmiri traders allege ‘harassment’ in Kolkatta: Few Kashmiri traders doing their business in Kolkatta city Thursday alleged that they are being continuously harassed by the traders from Odisha and Bangladesh. “We run a shop near IIT Kharakpora West Bengal. We have flourishing business as people and tourists like Kashmiri textiles and crafts. The traders from Odisha and Bangladesh are jealous of us and they are harassing us day in day out,” a Kashmiri traders Imtiyaz Zargar from Ghulab Bagh Srinagar told CNS. “We have been labeled as terrorists and they are threatening us of dire consequences in case we don’t vacate from West Bengal,” he said adding that they have brought the matter into the notice of Kolkata police who assured us action against the culprits. When contacted concerned incharge police station Kharakpor, Polash Mitra told CNS that there was some misunderstanding between these traders which has been cleared now. “I personally met these Kashmiri traders and assured them of every possible help. I even called the traders from Odisha and Bangladesh who pleaded innocence,” he said adding that any Kashmiri can approach him in case they feel insecure.
